About Voyager

Voyager Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VYGR) is a biotechnology company dedicated to breaking through barriers in gene therapy and neurology. The potential of both disciplines has been constrained by delivery challenges; Voyager is leveraging innovative expertise in capsid discovery and deep neuropharmacology capabilities to address these constraints. Voyager’s TRACER AAV capsid discovery platform has generated novel capsids with high target delivery and blood-brain barrier penetration at low doses, potentially addressing the narrow therapeutic window associated with conventional gene therapy delivery vectors. This platform is fueling alliances with Pfizer Inc., Novartis and Neurocrine Biosciences as well as multiple programs in Voyager’s own pipeline. Voyager’s pipeline includes preclinical programs in Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), each with validated targets and biomarkers to enable a path to rapid potential proof-of-biology. The successful candidate will interact with cross-functional Neuroscience Research program teams. The individual will have a primary role in experimental designs, execute hands-on in-house rodent studies, and downstream ex vivo assays to support our platform and discovery research using gene therapy approaches. The candidate will analyze data and communicate study progress and data through presentations and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • The individual will be responsible for experimental design, execution and data analysis for research studies supporting platform and discovery research
  • Design and hands-on execute rodent in vivo experiments including experiments in animal models of neurodegenerative disease
  • Performing test article dosing via various administration routes (e.g. IV, brain stereotactic infusions), brain and tissue collection, and downstream analysis (e.g. RT-qPCR, bDNA, western blot and ELISA).
  • Performing data analyses and delivering data presentation to teams
  • Ensuring maintenance of industry-quality records and proper documentation
  • Monitor health, perform behavioral assessments and tissue/csf/blood collection

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with performing test article administration in rodent (mouse and rat) is required
  • Technical proficiency with a wide variety of rodent in vivo pharmacology skills (IV, IP, stereotactic delivery)
  • Experience in conducting ex vivo tissue analysis (i.e. ELISA, activity assays, etc)
  • Must be organized and able to contribute to multiple parallel work streams
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented scientist with excellent critical thinking and problem- solving skills
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neuroscience is preferred
