Summary:
Vaxcyte is seeking to hire a talented individual to join our Human Resources team. The Vice President, Total Rewards will assume the critical role of strategically evolving our company-wide compensation and benefits programs to align with our business goals and to attract, retain, and incent top talent in a high growth innovative biotechnology company. You will be a strategic partner, collaborating across the company and specifically with members of the HR, Finance, and Executive teams to ensure our program investments support Vaxcyte’s corporate philosophy and align to what our employees value.

Compensation:

  • Partner with CPO to evaluate and evolve our compensation programs and job architecture, salary structures, bonus plans and market pay principles in line with our corporate strategy and compensation philosophy.
  • Partner with CPO and external compensation consultants on the design of our executive compensation programs, including evaluating our public company peer group to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Partner with CPO and Finance team on design, spend and implementation of equity programs, including option, RSU, ESPP and potential future equity plans.

Health and Wellness:

  • Design and implement a benefits strategy that ensures a competitive advantage in the marketplace and appropriate levels of investment/spend.
  • Lead the annual benefits review and planning processes, including plan design changes and negotiating coverage and costs with vendors, while ensuring risks and opportunities are articulated and addressed.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new health and wellness initiatives in partnership with the business to build a culture of wellness.
  • Oversee and manage benefits plan documents, plan design, implementation, administration, open enrollment, communications and compliance.

Systems/ Reporting:

  • Oversee RFP process for HRIS platform as it relates to selection, implementation, integration and overall user experience.
  • Lead and optimize HR technologies to meet business requirements creating opportunities for automation, improvements and scalability.
  • Report and organize data and create dashboards in a manner that will help both HR and the business make timely strategic and operating decisions.
  • Work closely with FP&A on compensation and benefits analytics and respond to management requests for analysis of employee compensation competitiveness and/or employee demographics.
  • Ensure compliance and proper reporting.

Other:

  • Prepare and present analyses, materials and recommendations to senior leadership as needed and as appropriate.
  • In partnership with the CPO, prepare Board and Compensation Committee materials.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition.
  • Manage communication strategies to educate employees about our various offerings and programs.
  • Identify trends in total rewards by creating and evaluating compensation and benefits surveys, including the Global Radford Technology Survey, and performing market analysis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 18+ years’ experience in HR, with progressive experience in compensation, benefits, wellness plans/programs, HR Systems and compliance.
  • 8-10 years of successful people management experience providing mentorship, leadership and growth.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, practices and regulations including market analysis, salary structures, incentive design and equity programs.
  • Experience with effectively scaling a global total rewards function to support the company’s business goals and growth, with a strong awareness of best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communicates complex ideas in clear and easy to understand language; builds constructive and effective relationships.
  • Good at figuring out processes necessary to get things done; knows how to organize people and activities, can be counted on to achieve and exceed goals.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills and the highest standards for accuracy and precision
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, statistical and conceptual skills; experience in and comfortable with using data and creating dashboards to drive decisions; Excel expertise.
  • Solid demonstrated experience in benefits interacting with and leading matters involving ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ADAAA, Equal Pay Act and FMLA and other applicable laws.
  • Experience with deferred compensation plans and complex equity instruments.
  • Public-company experience.

Compensation:
The compensation package will be competitive and includes comprehensive benefits and an equity component.
Salary Range: $304,000 – $333,000
