What You Will Be Doing
The Clinical Research Scientist is a research position, responsible for formulating, conducting, monitoring and documenting clinical research studies. They will work with cross-functional teams on developing and evaluating ophthalmic imaging technologies for research and product development. Clinical Research activities involve (but are not limited to) the evaluation of prototypes, newly-released devices, and studies to support regulatory filings.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:
- Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research techniques specific to the subject matter of the research project.
- Lead activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: site identification, training of investigators and clinical site personnel, assisting investigators in screening participants for eligibility, collection reporting and review of data
- Authors and assists in the preparation and submission of clinical SOPs, clinical protocols, and other documents (e.g., Institutional Review Board, Quality Management Systems)
- Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with clinical testing policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and execute experimental plans to gain fundamental knowledge and test clinical feasibility and to develop protocols to investigate technical and clinical challenges. Collect and communicate user and patient experiences with the devices and the interfaces.
- Perform data analysis and interpretations. Document and communicate results, including reports.
- Maintains working relationships with clinical sites, investigators, and clinical study coordinators
- Make recommendations to improve performance of devices and processes
What We Are Looking For
Baseline Skills, Experiences, & Attributes:
- Degree in a relevant scientific discipline. OD preferred.
- 3-5 years of technical, hands-on clinical research experience. Prior experience with ophthalmic imaging technologies preferred.
- Prior experience with the creation and execution of clinical projects for feasibility and development, FDA validation, and understanding of clinical workflow
- Proficient in interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal for both internal and external entities. Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought
- Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and interpret data
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
