Where do you fit in?

We're on the hunt for a new Senior Technical Lead for one of our Technology R&D teams working on the development management area of the business.

The Senior Technology Lead (TL) is the key stakeholder for product domain(s) and its component(s) and represents agile teams and technical user stories and enablers acceptance criteria for R&D. They are accountable within their area of responsibility for the execution of the detailed roadmap and product architecture, and on time delivery of complex applications, services, and/or systems.

The Senior Technical Lead is responsible for decomposition of Epics into technical user stories and enablers. Additionally, the Senior TL manages the sequencing of backlog items; working with the Product Lead to understand and define technical release obstacles. The Senior TL should have a solid understanding of technical release obstacles, the sequencing of backlog items and the product management prioritization and be accountable for iteration ceremonies and their documented outcomes.

Senior Technical Lead will ensure the delivery of robust and efficient code while following the best practices and standards defined by the organization. The Senior TL will collaborate with organizational leaders to create a vision, define implementation plans, and communicate these transparently to whom it may concern.

As part of our team, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Act as subject matter expert in one or more business domains and/or technical areas;
  • Review, refine, and sequence backlogs to remove technical release obstacles and ensure efficient delivery and execution against backlog prioritization (defined by Product Lead);
  • Understand and align with strategic THEMES, Business EPIC translation, FEATURE creation, and STORY development;
  • Partner with Product Leads and other Technology Leads across the product portfolio and other business departments to design and develop new requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with architects/software engineers to ensure optimal decisions are made to deliver the most efficient products;
  • Act as the single source and owner of story sequencing for the scrum team - and understands the how;
  • Take responsibilities for user stories and enablers acceptance criteria being written, and accept them as done;
  • Participate in all scrum ceremonies and accountable for documented outcomes;
  • Work with Product Leads to observe, learn about, contact, and analyze customers and end users of the products;
  • Understand internal and external environments to develop software that leverages commodity solutions and tradeoffs with competitive advantages;
  • Have direct or indirect leadership responsibilities across Signant product domains;
  • (If line manager): Manages and mentor a team of tech leads to effectively oversee a larger product or product line. Assure the team builds plans for products that align with overall product strategies, goals and objectives.

DECISION MAKING AND INFLUENCE

  • Owns scrum team delivery and execution;
  • Owns feature refinement, Story creation acceptance;
  • Assess build vs buy decisions for major system components;
  • (If line manager): Experience leading software development teams to successful implementations and/or managerial experience over technical teams.

You’ll need to bring:

  • Ability to (verbally and in-writing) communicate clearly and succinctly complex project plans, design, and technical issues, as well as business and product requirements;
  • Strong organizational, time-management, analytical and decision-making skills to efficiently evaluate, plan, and accomplish personal work goals;
  • Detailed working knowledge of a System/Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
  • Solid understanding of technical release obstacles and how to overcome them;
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing complex systems;
  • Previous demonstrated success in gathering information from a wide variety of sources and subsequently crafting it into effective and audience-appropriate technical and non-technical documentation;
  • Proven track record of success analyzing, defining, and overseeing requirements for advanced and complex applications, products and/or integrations of advanced complexity;
  • Proven track record in managing the requirements definition process and synthesizing for a variety of stakeholders representing large and complex organizations;
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively follow established processes to ensure the successful transfer of complex technical, process and organizational knowledge;
  • Keen listening skills and ability to empathize with speaker’s point through verbal and non-verbal cues;
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented work culture, providing back-up support to team members & establishing/maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers within and across functional areas necessary;
  • Experience working in a regulated technical environment and/or previous experience with clinical software highly desirable.

We’d be thrilled to hear that you also have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical major.
  • Demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years functioning as Product Owner or similar
