Job Description

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Protein Process Development Scientist to join our dynamic team. As a Protein Process Development Scientist, you will be vital in developing and optimizing protein process transfer, purification and manufacturing development. Your expertise and innovative thinking will contribute to advancing our company's protein sequencing products.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and optimize protein purification processes: Design, execute, and troubleshoot protein purification processes to achieve high product yield, purity, and quality. Evaluate and implement novel purification strategies and technologies.
  • Process optimization and scale-up: Conduct optimization studies to enhance protein manufacturing processes' efficiency, scalability, and robustness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer operations from laboratory to pilot and production scales.
  • Characterization and analysis: Perform analytical and biochemical characterization of proteins using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy. Generate and analyze data to understand protein behavior and optimize process conditions.
  • Technology evaluation: Stay updated on the latest advancements in protein purification technologies and industry best practices. Evaluate and introduce new technologies, equipment, and methodologies to improve process efficiency and productivity.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Prepare technical reports, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document process development activities.
  • Collaboration and communication: Work with multidisciplinary teams, including Research and Development, Quality Control, and Manufacturing, to align process development objectives and timelines. Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Compliance and safety: Adhere to applicable regulatory guidelines and quality standards in all process development activities. Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment and actively participate in safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on protein process development.
  • 5-7 years of industry experience in protein process development, optimization, and scale-up.
  • Proficiency in various protein purification techniques, chromatography, and filtration methods.
  • Hands-on experience with protein characterization techniques and analytical tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality management systems in the biopharmaceutical industry is a plus.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $ - $. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
