­The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Director or Senior Director to join the Odyssey Project Management team in San Diego or Boston. The team is highly integrated across the company and leads management of small molecule programs from Discovery through Regulatory submissions and ultimately clinical trials. You will be responsible for program management of small molecule projects including providing strategic planning, coordinating discovery/nonclinical activities, developing novel/aggressive timelines to advance molecules in the program from target hits, lead candidate selection and IND enabling studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager for Research and Development projects, working with Discovery Project Team Leader and/or Non-Clinical Development Team Leaders working with team members across functions to support project objectives to identify and develop small molecules. Collaborate with external research organizations to achieve project goals
  • Organize regularly scheduled or ad hoc project team meetings, preparing agenda/meeting minutes and ensuring project goals are met in accordance with strategic timelines. Prepare presentations for internal and external meetings (e.g., team presentations, management review meetings, Board of Director meetings, etc.)
  • Support program strategy and guide interactions with key external resources (e.g., CROs, and/or consultants) including establishing consulting agreements, MSAs and SOWs
  • Have strong interest and aptitude for life sciences and interest for learning and contributing to the development of novel therapeutics in our programs; collaborate closely with individual project leads/teams and scientific leadership

­About You

  • Experience in managing small molecule discovery/development teams and successful advancement of development candidates to regulatory submissions (INDs/CTAs)
  • Knowledge and interest in the biopharmaceutical industry and therapeutic development process with an emphasis on oncology and immunology
  • Willingness and natural aptitude to encounter new problems and use logic to propose a course of action and develop a plan for execution
  • Ability to execute diverse and novel strategies in a complex matrix environment; experience managing and influencing project activities and key stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills, persistent attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage timelines and priorities
  • Ability to make sound judgement in complex situations and adapt to changing business needs by prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Desire to work on a small team in a fast-paced environment
  • Natural curiosity with interest to learn therapeutics development, operational execution, and evaluation of preclinical and clinical data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree relevant to drug discovery/development
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience in Biotech or Pharma; prior experience managing discovery/development teams
