Role Description:

The Finance and Accounting team is seeking an experienced and collaborative Accounting Manager who will be part of a dynamic team instrumental to the continued growth and success of a high profile, private stage company. You will be responsible for all operational accounting, including preparing general ledger transactions, accounting period closes, and assisting in accounts payable management. You will also support the company’s financial statement audits. Additionally, as the Accounting Manager, you will be directly involved with supporting the implementation of key financial processes and policies that support sustained and scalable organizational growth and internal control over financial reporting and help to expand the Finance and Accounting team.

You will be reporting to the Assistant Controller.

Your Impact Includes:

  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations and daily cash postings
  • Managing fixed asset reconciliations and related journal entries
  • Managing prepaid expense reconciliations and related journal entries
  • Assisting with payroll and equity administration, as needed
  • Owning and maintaining corporate charge card program and employee expense reimbursements
  • Engaging in continuous improvement of accounting procedures and process enhancement for company scale-up
  • Participating in ad hoc projects and performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience. Public accounting and Biotech industry experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Effective communicator with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional leaders and external consultants
  • Ability to work independently with general direction and guidance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Accounting ERP system experience, preferably NetSuite
  • Experience with procure-to-pay systems, Coupa experience a plus
  • Experience with payroll systems and equity administration systems, ADP and Carta preferred
  • Strong ethical values with a focus on authenticity, accountability, excellence and integrity

The expected salary range for this role for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area is $141,900 - $155,500. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills and job location. The expected salary range for this role may be modified in the future.
