Job Summary

LifeMine is seeking a computational biologist with experience in genomics, and translational sciences to join our growing team. In this role, the successful candidate will serve as a bridge between the fungal and human target discovery. We have assembled, sequenced and annotated one of the largest fungal strain collections in existence to create the largest known fungal genome database, called LifeBaseTM. The Omics & AI team develops and executes genomic discovery algorithms to mine LifeBaseTM and fuel our drug discovery efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for those with a passion for designing innovative computational approaches and software development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leverage computational biology and bioinformatics tools to assess and nominate novel therapeutic targets
  • Develop data analysis tools to summarize complex biological datasets and triage target identification
  • Research nominated and selected targets in databases and scientific literature
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on the selection of targets with the Biology and Translational Bioinformatics teams
  • Link fungal genetics and biology with human disease relevance
  • Work closely with Genomics and Machine Learning teams to refine target discovery algorithms
  • Validate model results and translate findings to present for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Job Requirements

  • A PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience
  • Experience in human biology or translational sciences
  • Experience with comparative genomics and integrative analyses
  • Proficiency with R or python and scientific computing libraries
  • Skilled in data analytics and visualization
  • Experience with fungal or human genetics is preferred
