Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

As a Senior Manager, you will lead our Informatics Software group’s Experimental Design & Tracking (EDT) team, which produces software services that accelerate the pace of R&D. The EDT team is responsible for capturing the structured design of Intellia’s editing experiments and tracking samples through the NGS and screening lab.  The data flowing through our cloud-based data systems enable the decisions that advance Intellia’s programs.  This is an opportunity to EXPLORE and DELIVER laboratory solutions that DISRUPT our industry and enable ONE Intellia’s advance in cutting-edge science. Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage and drive projects, including ownership of timelines, with iterative SDLC approach

  • Take ownership of design and development of EDT team projects and service requests

  • Lead production of hybrid custom-built and COTS solution to experimental sample tracking

  • Identify and communicate decisions affecting organizational and Genomic Operations goals

  • Invest heavily in achievement of your team’s individual production and development goals

  • Manage external consultants and associated budget responsibilities

About You:

You are an experienced leader of talented engineers achieving corporate objectives.  As a software engineering manager, you naturally recognize, and successfully guide delivery of solutions to workflow bottlenecks.  You are boots on the ground, working side by side with your team through all phases of software projects.  Our ideal candidate will have a BS/MS in Computer Science or a related computational discipline with experience in the biotech industry. We work as a team in a hybrid work environment and heavily utilize GitHub to manage work throughout the project workflow.

Skills and technologies, you should be familiar with include:

  • Collaborate daily with direct reports and peers, gaining buy-in, to deliver software solutions

  • Receive objectives from management and apply resources to meet schedules and goals

  • Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules

  • Maintain a significant presence, occasionally provides teaching & coaching, in the lab

  • Produce clear and descriptive documented action items for the development team

  • Produce software design and well-documented action items from project requirements

  • Lead development experience with

    • RDBMS databases storing genomics data

    • Python web frameworks to build RESTful APIs

    • System operations in a Linux environment

In addition to the above skills experience, you will also interact with the following technologies.

  • GitHub project management feature set

  • Deployment of data services to AWS cloud environment

  • FastAPI web framework

  • LIMS or Laboratory Software, ELNs

Meet your future team:

Informatics at Intellia consists of the Software and Computational Sciences teams. The computational scientist develops genomic pipelines while maintaining strict standards for ensuring data integrity and quality. Software engineers work with their scientific counterparts to streamline workflows and create web-based data services with high regard for integrity and security.  Additionally, the Software team performs development and operational functions for our AWS environment.

We are primarily remote with the occasional visit to the laboratory when onsite testing is required. By utilizing modern collaboration platforms and tooling, we have maintained a high level of productivity. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and continuing to build an amazing team!
