Senior Software Engineer II, Experimental Design & Tracking (EDT)
Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
How you will Achieve More with Intellia:
As a Sr. Software Engineer II, you will join our Informatics Software group’s Experimental Design & Tracking (EDT) team, producing software services that accelerate the pace of R&D. The EDT team is responsible for capturing the structured design of Intellia’s editing experiments and tracking samples throughout the Genomic Innovation and Operations lab. Information flowing through our cloud-based data systems enables the decisions that drive Intellia’s programs. This is an opportunity to EXPLORE and DELIVER laboratory solutions that DISRUPT our industry and enable ONE Intellia’s advance in cutting-edge science. Main responsibilities include:
Collaborate cross-functionally with genomics counterparts to deliver software solutions
Lead architect of software designs that scale to meet the needs of organizational vision
Employ scalable design patterns that consistently produce robust solutions
Establish and present a vision for product delivery to stakeholders and developers
Map the organization’s data flow and introduce solutions that achieve operational excellence
Own product lifecycle through implementation, deployment and operational oversight
You have a track record of producing software solutions resulting in increased value of the organization. As a seasoned engineer, you naturally recognize, propose, and produce solutions to workflow bottlenecks. You are comfortable engaging with stakeholders and project management, responsively addressing issues as they arise in the field. Our ideal candidate will have a BS/MS in Computer Science or related computational discipline with experience in the biotech industry. We work as a team in a hybrid work environment and heavily utilize GitHub to manage work throughout the project workflow.
Skills and technologies, you should be familiar with include:
Technical leadership developing front and back-end software products in a genomics setting
Communicate with clarity to scientists and developers in written and verbal form
Adept at mapping out laboratory workflows spanning various data systems
Architect, develop and administer RDBMS storing genomic data
Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
Fluency in Python and related web frameworks
Linux shell scripting
In addition to the above skills experience, you will also interact with the following technologies.
AWS developer tools (CLI, SDKs)
Front-end development frameworks VueJS & Node
LIMS or Laboratory Software, ELNs
Microsoft Office suite of products including MS Office, MS Teams, Github
Meet your future team:
Informatics at Intellia consists of the Software and Computational Sciences teams. The computational scientist develops genomic pipelines while maintaining strict standards for ensuring data integrity and quality. Software engineers work with their scientific counterparts to streamline workflows and create web-based data services with high regard for integrity and security. Additionally, the Software team performs development and operational functions for our AWS environment.
We are primarily remote with the occasional visit to the laboratory when onsite testing is required. By utilizing modern collaboration platforms and tooling we have maintained a high level of productivity. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and continuing to build an amazing team!
