This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a strong team of geneticists, software engineers, data scientists, and other professionals shaping the future of personalized medicine. As a Pipeline Engineer, you will actively participate in improving our systems and integrating new bioinformatics tools. You will participate in an agile software engineering process in collaboration with product development, clinical service, and software engineering groups to create innovative software and workflows that facilitate clinical interpretation and classification of genetic information with our product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with software engineers to develop, validate, and maintain various components of clinical Next-generation sequencing analysis pipelines.
Work with data scientists and geneticists to facilitate the development of clinical solutions for genomic data interpretation.
Serve as domain expert on data processing workflows and scalable deployments.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
5+ years of industry experience in back-end software development
Experience developing backend systems for ETL and workflow management
Experience with Apache Spark
Significant experience developing software/pipelines using (in priority order) Python, Pyspark, SQL, Shell, Perl, C/C++ or Java
Significant experience developing software for deployment on Linux/Unix and AWS cloud services
Experience with modern build, deployment, and containerization (Docker) environments
Independent thinking and problem-solving
Obsessive over getting the details right but pragmatic to ensure on-time releases
Team player with excellent communication skills
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT REQUIRED
Experience Airflow, Kubernetes, DVC
Publicly shareable demonstration code for evaluation
Experience in academic or corporate research
Experience working with data scientists and bioinformaticians
Background knowledge in genetics
EDUCATION
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; or comparable experience

We are looking for a highly skilled and unique software engineer with experience in Dev-ops, data management and scientific computing. In this pivotal role, you will be creating best-in-class software to support the vast amounts of data that our system integrates to provide genomic interpretation services to our clients. You will work on the development of back-end services geared towards facilitating the streamlined upkeep of both public and private clinical genomic data. You will also play a crucial role in designing and optimizing workflow processes for transforming, integrating, and processing data. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in establishing a robust and secure cloud-based deployment infrastructure. Your contributions will create the building blocks for future growth and be integral to the success of our mission here at Fabric Genomics.
