Position Summary

As the Scientist, Molecular Biology, you will lead a team in pioneering platform technology development, specializing in innovative gene editing technologies. Your role involves designing and implementing in vitro and cell-based systems for high throughput screening, executing directed evolution processes to engineer gene editing technologies, and constructing libraries using rational and combinational methods. With a focus on efficacy and specificity, you'll build assays for novel technologies, while also providing scientific guidance and managing junior team members. This person, having expertise encompassing a range of molecular biology techniques, mammalian cell culture, and protein structure/function studies, will be a key player in advancing groundbreaking scientific endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Scientist, Molecular Biology, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead a small team for innovative platform technology development.
  • Develop in vitro or cell-based systems for high throughput screening.
  • Design and execute directed evolution processes to engineer gene editing technologies with desired properties, including novel DNA recognition sites, higher sequence-specific activity and specificity.
  • Design and construct libraries using rational and combinational methods.
  • Build assays to quantify and measure efficacy and specificity of novel technologies in vivo and in vitro.
  • Provide training, scientific and personnel management of junior team members.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related field or
  • 4+ years of industry experience in molecular biology or a related field
  • Molecular biology expertise including plasmid design, molecular cloning techniques such as Gibson assembly and golden gate cloning, primer design, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA purification, qPCR, and RT-qPCR
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, transfections, and cell-based assays
  • Extensive experience in protein structure/function study and protein engineering.
  • Molecular biology expertise including plasmid design, molecular cloning techniques such as Gibson assembly and golden gate cloning, primer design, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA purification, qPCR, and RT-qPCR
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, transfections, and cell-based assays
  • Extensive experience in protein structure/function study and protein engineering.
