As a member of the Operations team, the Associate Process Engineer contributes to Editas’s efforts to develop safe and effective cellular therapies using CRISPR-based gene editing technologies. This individual will assist in the development of processes for protein, oligonucleotide, and ribonucleoprotein (RNP). This role performs experiments independently or collaboratively as required and assists in the technical transfer of processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Research to transfer processes into Process Development;
  • Perform protein and/or RNP process development and optimization;
  • Collaborate with Analytical Development to generate data to support formulation studies, stability studies, and characterization of drug substance and/or drug product;
  • Support development and execution of in-process analytics to support process development of protein and/or RNP process development;
  • Document all experimental work, supporting information, and data in an electronic lab notebook (eLN) in a timely manner, and ensure junior team members complete eLN entries;
  • Compile and present data, and assist in authoring and reviewing of batch records, work instructions, technical reports, and supporting procedures;
  • Assist in the technical transfer of processes to Manufacturing or contract manufacturing organizations;
  • Support the generation of reference standards, lead stability samples, forced stability samples, toxicology lots, non-human use (NHU) engineering run lots, and clinical manufacturing run lots, as appropriate and
  • Cross-train personnel on processes, as required, and provide guidance to junior research associates.
  • Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field, plus 4 months of professional life sciences research experience.

    Must have:

  • Demonstrated experience with protein, oligonucleotide, and/or RNP processes;
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, problem-solve, prioritize assignments, and adjust priorities to meet goals in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with peers in a matrixed environment.
