Job Summary

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Business Partner understands Otsuka’s business strategy.

As a FP&A Business Partner specializing in Global Medical Affairs (Medical Affairs & GVRWE), you will play a critical role in developing and managing budgets, reviewing, and supporting forecasting, providing framework and analytics for investment prioritizations, providing day-to-day support and strategic analysis for short/long-term investment decisions to drive the success of our global medical operations.

The successful FP&A Business Partner acts as a champion for the business, monitoring the effect of business decisions on Otsuka’s financials and advises senior management appropriately.

Job Description

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Partner with Global Medical teams to prepare Annual Budgets, Long Term Plans and Forecasts
  • Track performance against targets by preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for functional leaders, project leadership, and department managers including identifying risks/opportunities and potential mitigation plans
  • Manage monthly close processes
  • Responsible for any collaboration external reporting, consolidated management reporting, and any reporting to the parent company
  • Analyze and report on key financial and operational performance indicators to facilitate strategic decision-making.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
  • Monitor and analyze spending patterns, variances, and financial performance, highlighting areas of concern or improvement.

Business Partnering/Stakeholder Management/People Management

  • Work closely with Global Medical teams including cross-functional teams to understand their financial needs and objectives.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to help drive initiatives, evaluate business cases, and assess return on investment.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders (within Finance as well as across the business)
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial presentations for executive leadership
  • Ability to manage a team (direct report(s))

Process Improvement and Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
  • Implement best practices and standardize financial processes across the Global Medical department.
  • Proactively assess and mitigate financial risks and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and financial policies.

Qualifications/ Required

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum BS/BA degree in business/finance/accounting, or closely related field of study
  • Minimum 7 years’ Finance experience, Pharmaceutical industry a plus
  • Proficiency with computer technology & MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as Anaplan, Essbase, and SAP reporting (AFO and SAC)
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with a keen focus on business partnering is required
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently, take initiative and complete tasks to deadlines
  • Experience working in a team based, matrix organization as a financial business partner preferred
  • Experience working globally, particularly with Japan, a plus
  • Must be open and flexible to the changing environment
  • Able to contribute innovative ideas and implement improvements

Educational Qualifications

Finance/Accounting BS degree required, MBA strongly preferred
