Are you passionate about pharmacometrics and PK/PD modeling? Do you have experience with pre-clinical and translational PK/PD modeling?

If so, now is your chance to join Ascendis Pharma as our new Pre-clinical and Translational Pharmacometrician.

Ascendis Pharma is a fast-growing biopharmaceutical company with locations in Denmark, Germany, and the United States. We are applying our TransCon technology to build a leading, fully integrated biopharmaceutical company focused on making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Guided by our core values of patients, science, and passion, we use our TransCon® drug development platform to fulfill our mission of developing new and potentially best-in-class therapies to address unmet medical needs. Today, we have a growing pipeline of prodrug therapies in development, each designed to be a best-in-class therapy.

We are seeking a passionate, hands-on, pre-clinical and translational PK/PD modeling scientist to join our growing Pharmacometrics Department, which covers all phases of drug development in Ascendis Pharma. As our new pharmacometrician you will contribute to advancing drug candidates across Ascendis Pharma’s portfolio, with focus on early and translational phases. You will contribute to peer-reviews across the product portfolio and knowledge sharing in the Pharmacometrics Department, as well as contribute to the development of our pharmacometrics modeling environment (Metworx) and further development of our scripted reporting.

In our department, we seek guidance and expertise from leaders in the field of pharmacometrics, to ensure that our analyses hold state-of-the-art standard, and work closely with well-known pharmacometric CROs to ensure timely support of all projects. You will work both independently and in close collaboration with the rest of our Pharmacometrics Department and our pharmacologists, in cross-functional teams, and with external partners, being responsible for designing and performing drug discovery- and translational PK/PD modeling analyses. In the role, you will maximize the utility of translational modeling at Ascendis Pharma to impact decision-making in early portfolio activities.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct of PK/PD modeling analyses on early product opportunities
  • Perform pre-clinical- and translational PK/PD modeling and simulation analyses to support project decision-making
  • Engage in project teams to design programs and studies to encompass the modeling strategy
  • Collaborate with our internal and external functional experts on assigned projects
  • Maintain awareness of innovation in the external modeling community

Qualifications and Skills:

You hold a relevant academic degree, preferably a PhD (or equivalent) within pharmaceutical/pharmacokinetic/biological/mathematical science and 2+ years of experience within PK/PD modeling.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Hands-on experience and strong programming skills in NONMEM and R language
  • Experience with MIDD and developing models for new target areas
  • Technical expertise to organize, perform, and report pharmacometric analyses including:
    • Developing semi-mechanistic PK/PD models for new drug candidates
    • Developing and applying pre-clinical and early clinical models for TransCon technology
    • Translational modeling, simulation, and extrapolation analyses (from non-clinical to clinical PK/PD)
  • Experience and interest in disease modeling, PBPK and QSP is a plus
  • Curious mindset to quickly understand the biology and pharmacology of the assigned project

Key competences:

You are a strong team player with a can-do attitude. You possess an entrepreneurial mindset and can thrive in an informal, open environment. To succeed in this role, we also expect you to be a highly proactive and analytical individual with a strong scientific background who enjoys challenges and working in a friendly, collaborative, and quickly developing organization. You have a strong mathematical background in addition to biological understanding and the ability to interpret, summarize, present, and communicate efficiently with scientists from other disciplines as well as clinicians. As you will be working on various tasks in different projects in parallel, you work in a structured way, and have a high quality-oriented mindset with the right level of details while keeping the overall picture in mind. Your ability to share knowledge and contribute to common goals will be valued among colleagues.

Travelling: 5-10 days per year.

Place of work: Ascendis Pharma headquarters resides in a modern and bright office facility in Tuborg Havn in Hellerup, just north of Copenhagen with a view of the harbor, the canals, and the sea.
