This role is based in Princeton, New Jersey and reports to the Head, Commercial Finance. This role requires key competences in financial analytics to support the US Commercial organization. Incumbent candidate will have a close collaboration with Finance Operations and Corporate Finance (Palo Alto, CA and Copenhagen, Denmark). The position requires a person that is analytical and has a holistic view of downstream implications to operating expenses, financial systems and commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities - details

  • Deliver financial support to the US commercial organization: reporting, planning and forecasting of operating expenses (OpEx) for personnel and external spend
  • Work collaboratively across commercial departments to develop quarterly, annual and long-range OpEx related projections and narratives for a full P&L to be included in the organization strategic planning process
  • Support the monthly accounting close, accruals, re-class with respect to operating expenses and in partnership with Finance Operations in a timely manner
  • Partner with corporate finance and the finance Systems to evaluate and implement new financial reports as needed
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business and provide detailed, high quality OpEx variance analysis on expenses for monthly business review (MBR)
  • Design, implement, and monitor key metrics to deliver business insights on key decisions on commercial strategy
  • Prepare and deliver detailed financial reports and presentations (including risks and opportunities) to management teams within commercial and global finance
  • Drive system implementations and process improvements to align the Ascendis’ global finance organization with industry best practices
  • Lead and support special projects as needed
  • 5+ years of related experience with a bachelors or masters degree in Business/Economics /Accounting or related field of study, Masters degree a plus
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of management, cross-functional business partners and with corporate functions
  • Experience within the Pharma/biotech industry, commercial product launches and US healthcare a plus.
  • Strong analytical and collaboration skills critical with senior members of the business and finance teams
  • Good communication and strategic problem-solving skills with the ability to drive creative solutions in a complex, high growth multi-national organization
  • Advanced Microsoft excel and PowerPoint skills required and experience with Cognos and Microsoft Power Bi a plus
