As a Research & Development Process Engineer, you’ll plan, organize, and perform a broad range of research and development activity while building a high level of specialized knowledge ensure our standards remain high, while creating technology and processes as you grow your professional acumen.

  • Research, propose, and execute R&D projects to identify and implement process innovations applicable to Nestlé Purina’s global business strategies
  • Collaborate cross functionally to plan and perform trials evaluating new technologies and processes that support Purina manufacturing and sustainability goals
  • Develop preliminary process designs and support capital project teams during detailed engineering reviews, field support, and process troubleshooting
  • Develop expertise in pet food manufacturing and facilitate technical trainings to company personnel, while adhering to company policies on protection of patent rights and intellectual property
  • Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical reports
  • Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 3+ years’ experience in engineering, research & development, or manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of experience interpreting and reviewing technical documentation such as Block Flow Diagrams (BFD’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), process layouts, and equipment specifications
  • 1+ years of experience displaying proficiency in applying mass and energy balance concepts for analyzing industrial processes

Other

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing or other large consumer products environment, with knowledge of hygienic requirements and safety is preferred
  • Experience in process modeling (CFD, Digital Twins) or computational methods is preferred
  • Ability to travel up to an average of 30%

The approximate pay range for this position is $74,000 to $97,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
